I'm doing some work for a client and need to access their server using a static ip address. I need an affordable ISP that can provide me with a fixed IP.

The cap can be low (1~3gb international) since this account will only to be used for project work. This is quite urgent so any recommendations would be appreciated. I already have a 4mb telkom line.

can't you use dyndns.org or similar?

If not, mweb supply static ip's

Just got off the phone with mweb - R1999 pm (on a 12 or 24 month) + R900 setup fees!

I'm hoping to go on a month-to-month since this isn't a long term requirement.

Sure the others will also be able to supply you with one but not sure about month to month.
Betting you will be lucky to get a static ip on a 6 month basis.

No other options you can use? (RDP, VPN etc). Possibly they will let you vpn into the server and use the internal ip's or let you leave a pc there to rdp into?

Personally would rather try vpn as rdp can be tedious for long periods of work.

It is not currently possible to obtain a static IP address directly on ADSL due to the way that Telkom's IP connect architecture works. IP Connect can only assign dynamic IP addresses to ADSL pppoe sessions.

The only way to obtain a static ip address is by obtaining a business adsl account where the ISP supplies you with a special Cisco router that sets up a VPN to the ISP across the PPPOE session and they assign a static IP address to you through the VPN. This router is very expensive hence the 12 month contract and crazy setup fees.
