Need desktop search engine

I am running win xp pro on a work laptop (not my choice), and need a fast way of searching my desktop. The windows index service does no seem to work; is there a free 3rd party desktop search program that anyone can recommend?

Nope... it is just a hard drive file / folder indexer... not content alas.

Its what I use and I am sure it can do what you need, give it a look.

Yup you were right. DL it last night and it indexed overnight. working like a charm
Still the best even without the support I reckon
