So been in the gym for 5months now,not to bulk or anything just stay healthy.

been eating way better than i did, burgers are out, sodas are out(beer still in)

More salads and eggs and tuna ect.

So my whole body i can see major improvement but still the love handles dont want to go away, they are smaller but still there.

It seems that they are smaller more in the front but still feel quite large to my lower back side??

I've been doing side lifts with dumbbells and side planks but ya .

So do you guys and girls know of any other ways to get them smaller?

You cannot spot lose weight.

Track your calories and take in less than you use of a daily basis and you will lose weight.

If you are genetically predisposed to them - love handles are absolute bastards, they will be the last thing to go. You will lose on arms, legs, chest but those love handles lol.

Just keep at it, if your body is changing for the better already you are on the right route

Keep you calories down and do HIIT 3 times a week. Other than that, just keep at it.

This is true. I used to do competitive mma and kickboxing in my younger years. Was skinny as hell but still had love handles.

Cut carbs totally out, work out on an empty tummy. All tricks I use to easily drop 15kg in 2 months. Its not going to be easy though, mentally its very tough, but hey, if this was easy then every Tom,Dick and Harry would be on the covers of the magazines.

The belly area is the first place fat stores in the body and the last place you will lose it.

Are you doing any cardio?

If so, do it at a long duration (>45mins) at 65 - 75% of your heart rate max (hr max = 220 - your age). This will trick your body into burning fat as an energy source, while saving the normal energy sources (carbs, glucose, etc.) for the high intensity part of the exercise.

Also combine that with strength training to increase your muscle mass which will speed up your metabolism

:)
Good luck

You may be insulin resistant. Consider switching to low carb diet.

And do not do any of these without first consulting a health professional

Take a quick run in the morning before work. Even just 10 minutes will get your heart pumping and give a good start to your day whilst also burning a few calories. Are you doing any cardio-type exercises?

Thanks for the tips so far ,i do this in every exercise ,if its chest ,arms or legs which ever

every training has a start of 5-10min treadmill (running ) side lifts, push ups(30),sit ups(30-50) and if i feel my batteries are still oky i do some planking and side planks.

Can you share your current exercise schedule you are doing now?

If you are not seeing results anymore, you need to change your routine up as well. We get too comfortable with a set routine.

HIIT training is awesome for strength and cardio. It gets the sweat flowing quite a bit. I see HIIT as functional fitness type training. You mentioned you are looking for increase in health and vitality, so this type of training is not bad. Just watch your form as you can put strain on your knees and such. Look at bodyrock.tv for inspiration. Their advise is pretty good (most of the time). They promote healthy living and balanced workouts. HIIT training also supposedly boosts the metabolism (in the sense that you burn calories even after the workout). Not sure on the extent of it, or how true it is, but I know that those workouts get results quickly.

Unfortunately, getting rid of those love handles is all about diet. You can never out-train a bad diet. Changing up your exercise routine will help, but it will only take you about 30% of the way.

What do you mean by working out on an empty stomach? Does that mean eat a small meal an hour before, or hours in advance? Doesn't starving yourself before a training session burn muscle instead of fat?

I have to have something small before a session - like an apple or handful of biltong about an hour beforehand. It helps me push that little harder. It could just be mental though, so no idea. I find a lot of of conflicting information around this.

I always take things to the extreme when I decide to go up or down in weight.I had to take this extreme because I wanted my body to use fat as fuel rather than stored energy. So each morning I used to go workout on an empty tummy. Its extreme but as you get slimmer your body doesnt want to give up those last few fat reserves, this is when you need to shock your body by doing something completely out of the norm.My waist went from 34 - 28.
