Need Graphics Card Advice

I think what people forget about hardware is that the companies have spend money on research and development for the new product. This also plays a part in the costing as it's not just the component costs they have to cover. Software on the other hand costs you to develop, but you can just basically copy paste from then on out and make pure profit once development costs are covered.
 
The launch cards, always high-end, for a series are used to cover development costs. It's the cheaper cards that manufacturers make their money from.
 
Asus 5850 TOP, Overclocks like made, reference cards are at +- 725-core and 1000-ram, saw a few oc sitres get 900-core and 1200-1300 ram, @ those speeds it will out do almost all stock 5870;s..... ATi is where its @ now, and you WILL want Dx11 support - 5800 series and up... What size monitor are you running and is it square or widescreen>?
