Budget - R700 or so.. will pay extra for risk of going deaf
Bass needed
Clarity needed
Must pretty much be able to make me deaf if i turn the volume all the way up by mistake on an average sound source. Should not sound over-driven at that volume.

Ideally whatever keeps the noise to me. I don't think open-ear headphones do that. Noise cancellation etc is also a non-issue, if there is noise, I will shoot it, besides decent volume implies you wont hear a gunshot next to your ear anyways. (I don't actually own a gun, our government is THAT irresponsible)

Ideas? Is my price wrong?

I don't play games much, so it's for music. I'll use my Logitech USB whatever the fraks for reference, if the first track was loud enough on say 80% volume and had bass I would be happy. So if you have what you consider decent headphones, 85-90% volume on the first video should cause a mild (hopefully violent) discomfort to your ears, if it does, tell me so I can buy some. At the same volume, the third video should make you cry and possibly result in ears bleeding. All results below are windows cranked to full and Youtube cranked to full.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7SwGg327Jw < not over driven, SOFT AS HELL, this song has bass if played through speakers, whatever is coming out of the headphones is not music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcN-QoReNv8&feature=related < not TOO soft, could do with more volume, slightly distorts, BASS guitarist was having a slow day, or using his baby daughters guitar.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0mQvObVVdU < sounds a bit overdriven, its almost about loud enough, lacks bass, on youtube the volume is probably double the CD tho, guess that explains the overdriven.

If your wondering why I just don't crank my speakers, I like not getting evicted, but I do need headphones that can bring the same joy as a set of Logitech X-201's (or 501's).

How do you drive the headphones, via the PC or a amplifier?

I will try see if I can test at a Sony Store, but I am wary to give Sony money as they are "Evil Corporation" whereas AKG/Audio Technica etc are in the headphone business, BUT there is no harm in testing.
