hi guys

im looking to get one of those multi media players so i can watch series n stuff on my tv instead of pc, can anybody help me out where to get one at a good price?

im also lookin for an external hard drive for it , preferably a small external one, take2 has this one

wat u guys think?

one more thing, is it possible to connect any external hard drive to a multi media player? or must it be a specific one?

thx in advanced :)

There might be something in the reviews section of the site? Have you tried there yet?

Otherwise, once you have made your choice, you can add a review which would help anyone moving forward looking for similar advice...;)

Here is a review of one to maybe avoid that I saw a while back, but it seems the major issue with the system is the on screen display, and not the functional aspects: http://mybroadband.co.za/techreviews/Hardware/39.html - http://mybroadband.co.za/reviews/showproduct.php/product/209/cat/7

Not sure exactly what this is as well ? - http://mybroadband.co.za/reviews/showproduct.php/product/202/cat/7

The link you provided is for an external hard drive only. How are you planning on getting it to play the content on your TV? Also, what TV do you have? Cause if you are HD Ready then you might as well spend the money upfront on a system with HDMI outputs. In fact you should get one regardless so you can take advantage of this if you ever upgrade the TV, without having to fork ou for a new player...

i have a normal tv at the moment, wish i had HD, that link i gave is the hard drive only, i wanted to find out if u guys think its a fair price for it and if anyone has purchased this hard drive before

thx again:)

Matrix had some el cheapo ones that took a 2.5 inch drive. They were going for around R350.00.

I have the MviX 5000 and I have been very very happy with it. It plays almost everything I throw at it and the software is very clean, fast and easy to use. It takes a 3.5 inch drive. Mine is IDE... but all the newer ones are SATA. They are not cheap though... but I am thinking very strongly about getting a second newer one.
