My brother passed away 3 months ago. I have his laptop which is password locked. I wasn't concerned about it as I was just going to re-install Win 7 (trashing everything). However, important things and some unknown issues have come up regarding his estate, and to resolve such, I would need to be able to log into his laptop in an attempt to find bank statements, email correspondence, and possibly other documents.

I have attempted to try and guess his password, but that has proven fruitless.

What I have thus far determined is that the Administrator account seems to be disabled, as I tried to access "Safe Mode with Command Prompt", but no Admin account comes up for selection.

So I'm looking for some advice or assistance for this in being able to get into the PC.

Any and all input appreciated.

I have used this in the past with success, to both enable the administrator account and reset passwords..:

Came here to suggest Hirens as well, lots of guides online and it works 95% of the time without any hassle

Sorry to hear about your brother though

Where are you from, pretty sure we can help reset it locally with a USB

Thanks all for the replies. Will give Hirens a go.

I'm based around Northcliff (Jhbg) area.

Update - Hirens did the job. Thanks for the recommendation.
Now to try and find out where the required data is stored (if such is stored). I note the laptop has a 500GB drive, with only 8GB spare.:confused::mad:
Will need to clean out where possible as well.
