Hi guys.

Need some help. Need to replace my brother's laptop. We had a break in last week and they took his laptop and some cellphones.

I was looking at the hp530 but I found out this morning that its been discontinued. Any recommendations in the same price range would be appreciated. I don't really know laptops and notebooks since I generally buy desktop's.

The Lenovo N200 is a good machine in terms of features:
Celeron M550
FingerPrint reader
5-in-1 card reader
WLAN
Bluetooth

Goes for around R4500 - R5500 (depending on where you shop)

The HP550 is the replacement for the HP530 I think...
Comes in Celeron & Core2 flavours

What price range are you looking at?

Have a look at Dion Wired. I was at their Woodmead branch. Saw a Toshiba U300 with excellent specs for R6k! 13inch notebook, though. Not sure if it was a mistake or not

I have no set price. But they are looking at something like R7 000. The laptop needs to be able to do the basic functions of an office pc and not suffer from lag. Also my bro wants an vista machine so it needs 2 gig of ram.

There is a newer cheaper 550 dual core out now for about R6250 now. Budget about R250 for added a second 1GB ram chip and you are set to go.

Dont go for anything that celeron... u wasting your money

go for either dual core or core 2 duo...

also check out pc zone(they in durbz www.zones.co.za) they got some good specials at great prices
