Need help with registry

My brothers reg editor dont want to work. It says: Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator. Why? :confused: How can I fix it?

Perhaps because the Network Administrator disabled it? Could also be a virus, some virusses used to disable registry editing.

Is he on a corporate LAN or is it his home PC?
 
This also happens when you have spyware and malware or certain virusses on your PC.

I would recommend scanning with Spybot, Malware Bytes and a good Antivirus to check for any problems.

Sometimes the securities on the system have been reset by these programs and you will need to reset them manually. I do have a file that does it for you easily, just PM me and I can send it to you.

Is a home pc and hes logged in as administrator
 
I recently had a machine that wouldn't let me into the registry, IIRC it blocked getting a command prompt too - can you check that? Anyhow, my go-to tool here is Super AntiSpyware, as started off Ultimate Boot CD 4 Windows - maybe give that a whirl ..also, you end up having UBCD which is just damn handy! (Mine only yesterday uncovered (suddenly) failing RAM on a machine that, until now, has been a model of good behaviour.)
