Just walk down the street find the nearest guy with a mobile offfer them some bucks for their SIM. Get them to copy all their data OFF the sim onto their mobile.I would just like to know if it is at all possible to buy a working simcard now.
Also, where can one buy pre-registered simcards? (future tourists would be willing to pay up to a few hundred rands for this).
Please any help would be appreciated. This situation has really embarassed me.
You have obviously been out of the country for far too longWow, I was not expecting such an emotional response. Well I was thinking something more practical - with less fuss. Basically we just want to buy a simcard, give the necessary documents and start using the cellphone.
If this process does not work, I thought maybe there was someone somewhere who registers a bunch of simcards in his name and then resells them to people who want to buy working simcards.

If someone passes a working SIM card onto a third party and that card is subsequently not re-registered and the original holder does not retain a copy of ID/Passport and proof of address of the person said SIM was pass to, they will also be in seriously deep do-do in terms of RICA.
