Need help working out what size UPS to get

So all I want to power is my router and my fibre box. Router is 12V 1,5A and fibre box is 12V 0,5A. Both have power adapters but I cannot cut off the adapter as I have seen in some other threads as the gear is not owned by me. I am aiming for 4 hours of uptime if at all possible.

The problem I have is working out all the rest of the nonsense that is needed. By using the calculators available online it seems I need a 650VA or higher, but that doesnt tell me how long it will last or anything like that.

Please can someone take pity on me and help with the calculations.

Will definately work.
850 are often recommended for 2-2.5hrs.

And if the ups does not accomodate 3pin plugs then its time to get creative.


You need to then buy the bits that you can then assemble in order to plug it into the ups so that you can plug in a 3pin plug. CPE often has 2pin, so 2pin>3pin adaptor>adaptor attached to the ups.
