Need input regarding ISP's

Hi there,


I simply cannot make up my mind about which ISP to use...

I've ordered my Prepaid telephone line, and telkom is said to install it on Friday.

Now, I'm looking for an ISP to bundle my line and uncapped 4mb connection. Problem is, I can't decide between Mweb and Afrihost.


I'm mainly going to use my internet for for online gaming, local servers and European servers. I know Mweb gives priority to gaming ports, is this the same with Afrihost? I'll also be downloading the occasional torrent here and there, so based on my needs, what would you guys recommend?

I'm lucky enough to have my exchange 500m away from me, so the quality of my line isn't really a factor.

From AfriHost you can get a Bundle for R897 for a 10Mb uncapped account.. Then you just have to pay your line rental with Telkom and then you set for less than R1000 per month!

This is up to 10Mb so it will only be if your exchange supports it! Lots of them have been upgraded but go to Telkom line checker and type in your home number and check what's your TOP speed.

If you go for AfriHost bundled 10Mb. You can u just your sync speed etc on their website and Android app! :D

I can give you some info now, but with us moving to a new network very shortly, things are going to change dramatically, and we expect performance to be even better.

Hi Persona1986

I would love to assist by provide you a trial account but is it really a pre-paid phone you installing? The thing is ADSL does not work on pre-paid.

Hi MWEB Guy, I just confirmed with telkom it's a standard telephone line, not a prepaid line.

If you guys give me a trial account, wouldn't it mean you guys will have to convert my line to an ADSL line as well?
