Trend predictions... fact is it would be more then a linear view by now. but this is the safest rout and would still give me a conservative view of the market would realistically be more... So I have a clue

Use the RATE formula in excel: RATE(10,,-6394000,12206000)

Not sure, Trend Prediction just using historical data alone should be considered. Especially, if its population, there are variety of other factors that affect the growth of population. If you can get the historical data for the rest of the years, you will see that that there would have been differing growth rates over the years.
You seem to be very confident that this formula would materialise over the coming years as well.
