Hi Guys,

Not sure if someone can help but I've been google'ing like mad for hours and am still struggling for a solution. We've installed a soft pabx system ( Elastix running on FreePabx ), all calls are working: internal, external etc but the one issue I have is that when someone dials in and our reception phone is ringing, the caller hears a solid tone, not the normal ringing tone. The call still gets answered but obviously I don't want folks to think the system is engaged when phoning in.

Can anyone assist? I have played with numerous settings in both Elastix and FreePabx but can't seem to get the right one.

Create a Queue, called reception, add your reception phone to the queue and then route all incoming calls to the queue.

That way reception can take 1 call at a time, and anyone else gets your welcome message and anything else you define on the queue.

Also you can easily add dynamic queue members to the reception queue, so if the receptionist needs to take a tinkle someone else can join the queue for a short time.

I've considered that as a next step but I need to get a recording done first. Was wanting to at least have the normal ringing tone until I can set the welcome msg up.

sounds like you still need to edit indications.conf and change "country=us" to "country=za" in the "[general]" section

You don't even need to edit the file to do that, just change the country on the general settings page via the web gui.

You can set the queue to play a ringing tone. But on Elastix is really simple to record a nice welcome message and play that and the one of the default music on hold sounds.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

- Country settings were set.
- Tried the queue but the problem seems elsewhere

It looks like the issue is between my incoming and my gateway, not the PABX itself. Still trying to solve it, though.
