The last couple of days I've been busy a mobile section for a space wallpaper site. This is my first attempt at creating anything suitable for cellphones and I struggled with the "new format", but it's now finally ready to be put through the gauntlet of public testing.

I'm looking for some testers to see how well it does/doesn't work on various cellphones. If you've got an internet enabled cellphone and have the time and inclination please head over to www.spacewallpapers.net/mobile/ and give it a try. (Just browsing the pages will take around 20KB of data and the downloading a full version of a wallpaper will range from 15-40KB.)

I'm interested in:
  • What type of phone you have?
  • f you were able to access the site via the phone?
  • Did you use your phone's browser or a third party app (Opera Mini etc.)
  • Any errors/problems you experienced etc.
  • Did access keys work? Pressing numbers on the phone should help in navigation if the phone and browser supports access keys (See Help on the site).
  • Is the wallpaper resolution suitable for your phone? If not, then please state your resolution.
  • Opinions, thoughts and advice. (What is good/bad about the site and how can it be improve.

Obviously the above questions are entirely optional, but will provide me with some good reference points on actual usage.

A huge thank you to any of the brave souls that take the time.!

I am going to refrain from calling this RAS. :)

Well, it's definitely not my intention to promote the site in any way. I'm just looking for some objective feedback and to know that it works on more than the 6 or so phones I've already tested it on.

Feel free to have the post removed even if there's the chance that it would be viewed as spam.

I haven't tested it on my phone, too lazy, and my phone's screen res is higher than your choices.

I suggest you make a database of phone models and screen sizes, use GSM Arena (www.gsmarena.com) for the info.

Then you could, either have a version for each and every resolution, or you could do it on the fly on the server side with image tools.

My 2c.

Thanks for the input. The two resolutions are more or less the two most popular resolutions on mid to high end phones. I've already made a list, but it's always interesting to see what real world results are.

Doing server side resizing isn't really that great of an option since the images need to be positioned slightly differently for the different resolutions and they also aren't the exact same ratio.
