Hey peeps...looking for some 2cents here.

customer has got the following setup:

pc in room connected to 4 port wifi (this in a seperate room on the yard ) ~~~~ d-link dwl2100ap ~~~~~ netgear 54mbps wifi usb stick on a 3m usb extention cable.

now my problem is that: the dwl2100ap has got a repeater function , where you scan the AP's around it , accept the parent AP's SSID , and MAC...and then whala...save,reboot...right? nope

all of the units are on same network range/subnet

192.168.0.1 ~~~ 192.168.0.50 ~~~ 192.168.0.2

from .2 i can ping .50 but not .1 ...signal is 2 weak to reach .1 from .2 hence repeater..

any ideas?

IIRC with DD-WRT, not sure if it applies generally, the router that's repeating has to repeat the signal on a different subnet to that of the original signal, if that makes any sense, not sure how to word it better. :) Might be worth trying.

i've tried now with doing 192.168.1.1~~~192.168.0.50~~192.168.1.2

can't even get an adsl pppoe session over the repeater .grr
:)

as far as i could find - repeater with bridge support allows for different subnets to chat with each other ... - dwl2100ap only has got repeater mode..

i've got a ddwrt 54gl at home...gonna test it a bit later 2nite

Ok I think its only on the new firmware that they support repeater mode, need to get another one and hopefully link it to my existing one so I'll be trying soon.
