Hi.

As the title suggests, I need to get a UPS for a desktop PC at work. The PC is a Dell Optiplex 990.
We have a generator backup in our building, but the generator takes about 1min to kick in when there is a power failure.
I need a UPS so that the computer does not go off during this time.
Any advice on what make of UPS I should get and where i should get it from.
I am in the Alberton area and don't mind ordering online, or using a brick and mortar store in the Johannesburg/Alberton area.

Thanks in advance.

What's your budget?

I would recommend getting an APC Smart-UPS. Should be able to pick up a decent one for around R3,500.

If you only need to keep that one PC up for a minute, get yourself a cheap line-interactive UPS.

E.g. Tescom Apex 1000VA. even the 650VA should be able to keep your PC up for 10+ minutes (your dell is fairly lightweigh in the power consumption department)

They cost less than a R1000.
