Mini ups on both sides is your best bet.

If you want to go cheap, a poe injector/splitter on both sides is your friend, with a single miniups then being able to power it all. Obviously you need to observe voltages, voltage drop etc

Learn this the hardway. One heatwave, and cables come loose. I use the alarm cable glue. It is R25 a tube at any security store.

I think this may be the same stuff I'm referring to actually.

I have the same situation and considering the cost to move the ONT by yourself or try to get it moved is very high. I would go with a cheap and nasty Router UPS from Takealot. I like them so much I got 3 of them. They do the job and if you take some time you can get away with under R400 for a cheap and nasty. They work well enough but don't expect quality or long battery life.

So update to my situation: after a bit more googling, found out that I needed a SC to LC fibre cable. Which was fairly cheap for a 30 meter pre-made, about 280 with delivery.

Carefully ran it to where I need it, remembering that fibre cables can't do right angles without a junction box of some sort.

And sorted, without any issues at all!

Ironically though: after all that, we hit stage 6 loadshedding and I ended buying an EcoFlow River Pro coz I work from home. So much for the budget saving lol
