Previous connection speed (acording to MDMA) 16M down and 3.6 up.
From yesterday 21 down and 8.6 up. tower ID 10181 (Killarney)
Strange
REAL speed is not changed 10-12 down, 3 up
Will try sat-sun when less users

yes. i have noticed the network sputtering a bit a few days ago... and then... all of a sardine... WHOOOOSH. :D

wonder if they're not playing with 42Mbps? I noticed lunch time yesterday that I was suddenly hitting 5Mbps, which I haven't seen since launch

At last Cell C are starting to fix some the cons they've been pulling on their users.

The 16 down, 3.6 up you've seen up to now was a artificial limit Cell C imposed on your connection. Even if you were under optimal conditions, you would never get better speeds than this.

This was a bit of a problem for Cell C as they've been telling everyone, at every conference and everywhere in the media you can get up to 21.6Mb/s. They even created a TV add showing speedtest.net running at 21.6Mb/s.

Meanwhile, without telling anyone they imposed this throttling on the network. So, even while flighting ads showing downloads of 21.6Mb/s, they knew it was impossible. In other words, they intentionally lied to you, their loyal subscribers.

I assume after the ASA wrapped them over the knuckles for lying about a bunch of stuff, including speed claims, they fixed this quickly as the ASA are now considering sanctions against Cell C for their continuous lying in the media.

82 posts and all of them are either anti-Cell C or pro Vodacom.

We have other sections in myBB you can post in. :)

On friday i was getting 21down and 8up, but i wasnt seeing any improvement in speed. My upload is still shocking and iv sent a PM to guru, just waiting to hear the outcome.

Please see first post in this thread regarding updating your location.

thanks for the link Ginggs, i already know this. Thing is my tower went down last night and i got connected to a tower further away (-91dBm) and my speed instantly changed and back where it should have been (5down, 2 up).

Guru has been in touch with me and they busy looking into it.

FYI ur program is awesome! Only thing i wish was that we could manually set which tower we could connect to, if we had the cell ID, any chances of that being done in ur program?

Thanks.

I don't think the modems allow this.

Sometime during this last weekend my negotiated QoS values increased from 3968/16000 to 8640/21000 and sometimes 3968/21000.

Again some improvements!
I notice that my email download speed increases in times!
Before (pop3 server is in USA) it was 10-50k/s and now it is in range 5-8M/s for a long files!
Speedtest shows rock stable 13M/s 24/7
