Recently my wifi signal is VERY weak- I pick up a better signal from my neighbour's router than mine.
I tried 2 different modem/routers andthe results are the same.
I ran Inssider and found both our channles to be on 6. I changed mine to 1 but the problem persists.
What are my options to solve the problem. I cannot run a cable from my router to the room.

Have you tried resetting your router to factory settings and testing the signal right off the bat?

tried with 2 different routers, factory settings etc- no help

using pc with PCI card and other android devices. Problem persists on all devices.

If possible, can you take your wifi AP and test it on another location, such as your office? If the signal is very good, then it is something at your house.

If it is the case, then your neighbour's AP is probably not adhering to wifi standards, and is "swamping" yours.

Or neighbour turned his radio strength all the way up, swamping other AP's in the process...

Maybe try to change the channel on it to something different.

The neighbour got a new router

tested the modem at work and signal is fine.

How do you turn the radio strength up? Maybe I can do that too.

Perhaps ask the neighbour if he/she would be so kind to switch it off for 10 min,to test your setup while theirs is off.I'm not sure how you would go about changing that though

If your router is capable of running in either the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz bands, than try forcing it to 2.4Ghz, the range will improve but the interference might increase, as most devices run in the 2.4Ghz band (i.e. 5Ghz is cleaner with less interference, but less range).

And try uping the output power in the settings, by default some routers are set to 90%.

it is running on 2.4Ghz.
haven't tried the output power setting yet.

you router is faulty . try backing up the settings and do a firm ware update , or better still get a new router alltogether

I tried 2 routers both with the same problem- and both work fine at another location so that's definitely not the issue
