Nelspruit (Steiltes) ADSL Problems

Hallo,

I have been struggling for a while now with my line. Constantly reporting the issue to telkom and unfortunately its not being resolved. Hopefully I can get some help from this thread.

The issue that I am having is constant package loss in games, especially dota 2, and not being able to watch twitch without constant buffering. My line sometimes constantly drops then connects again. My line Stats:

Phone number: 013 744 xxxx
Line speed: 4mbps
ISP: Webafrica Capped account
Time of day when problems exists: All day

I've tried another ISP test account, with the same results, indicating that the issue must be the line.

Please assist if possible, and let me know if any additional information is required that would help :)

Nice to see someone else from Nellies here - that's where I grew up, and went to high school. :)

I had the same issue. Run WinMTR or PingPlotter and run it for about 2 minutes and post the screenshots here. It should confirm packet loss.

Had the same issue last month, and after a LOT of struggles, Telkom(OpenServe) finally found a fault they could fix on the exchange, after first blaming it on exchange congestion, and then lightning(!!!).

Hi Ho3n3r, good to meet someone from Nelspruit. What exactly does this tell me? it looks like the package loss is around 1%? Is this problematic and is there anything to be done about this!

There is some packet loss - not massive amounts (mine was 8-15%, depending on the day), but 2.3% can still be a hassle in gaming, I suppose...

Personally I would not let this just slide, especially if you say it's giving you problems in games. Admittedly I don't know much about the games you mentioned - is there any chance they may also be having issues on their servers?
 
Yes this seems okay for now - but it tends to be worse. I will run another test tomorrow. this test supports what I can see ingame, which is the 1-2% package loss. Sometimes it goes up to 50% package loss and then it is unplayable.

Doubt its the game servers though - friends of mine are not having any issues at all.

Thanks for the input - appreciate it. Would the appropriate action be to just report it to telkom again? or maybe get in touch with someone from the forums, a representative of telkom to assist? Thanks
