Anyone have any experience with NeoBroadband LTE ? I currently have 4Mb ADSL, but I am sick of Telkom and the constant line issues.

I plan on mainly using it for streaming and usenet.

I have the Neotel Wimax product. 6up and 2down. Have had it for year and has worked perfectly.
Might be an alternative solution to LTE. (I went for both. LTE had no reception, but Wimax was good.)

What sort of cap do you have?

Yes, its good. We tested it for a month, and it provided a solid connection.

Really really solid - we have Neobroadband 8mbps uncapped and I get my full 8mbps when I need it pretty much always - very happy with the connectivity and service from Neotel also latency is decent.

I think the soft caps are the same as for their fibre products.I.e. once you reach half of your theoretical maximum they throttle you to half speed. No other restrictions though

Remember that Netflix "adjusts" the resolution, and hence the bit rate to you, depending on the speed of your service. This obviously affects the picture quality, but the 2 Mbps service gives acceptable quality on a HD TV. You will probably experience buffering if you force it to HD (720p, i think, just like DSTV "HD")

Good day
I am also thinking of moving from Telkom 4meg (Afrihost Uncapped) to a Neobroadband 4meg wireless. Thanks to you guys for all the info above but I have one or two more questions:
1. How is Neobroadband 4meg for online gaming (Speed and Latency)?
2. Is this product good for Youtube video streaming?

I'm a bit nervous as I will have to cancel my Telkom line and Afrihost to sign a 2 year contract on a system that I've had no experience on.
Just thinking of how long it will be to get Telkom reinstated gives me a headache. Ha Ha Just thinking of talking to Telkom gives me a headache.;-)

Your urgent feedback will be highly appreciated.

Hi Nelca,

I'm not a gamer, but here is my ping stats from this mornings tests. Is pretty good for wireless (Neotel Wireless, aka LTE), so may be good enough for gaming? Comparing this to the mobile LTE test published yesterday here on MBB, Neotel outperforms the MNO's by far. Neotel is fixed, though.

Obviously, fibre will be the best, ADSL is pretty decent, but SA is not a perfect place yet!

Youtube, netflix etc runs pretty much solid @ high resolution. When I had the 2 mbps service, the router reported DL speed of 1 Mbps when running Netflix. I see Neotel now sell a 1 mbps service,

Have been suffering a bit with the application. Completed the application by the Cedar Square Mall and they took copies of my payslip and proof of residence. I heard nothing back so I phoned.
They said due to affordability i can only get a 5 gig bundled product. I told them that ridicules since they didn't even look at bank statements or anything. The call center guy then said I must mail all documents to him.
Today I phoned again and it was the same story. I again said it could not be so he said he will speak to a supervisor.
I send all documents again and now the supervisor will speak to the credit department.
I hope it will be sorted now.

We had a similar issue since the sum total of my credit history is a student credit card with a limit of R100 (I don't believe in debt) and they gave me a similar story. I ended up having to get my mom to sign for it (she has a loooong credit history in the green + clothing shops credit accounts), which I pay her for every month. Kind of retarded.

Hi

They came to install my Neotel Wireless Broadband 4meg LTE and it works very good. I was just disappointed that they gave me a Netgear MBRN3000 router that is not so great.

What other modems can be used on this product other than the Netgear?

If had this package for two weeks and I'm quite happy with the product. Youtube and games work great and my downloads goes quite fast.

here is some speed tests for reference.

The netgear is only used to provide wifi. the main router is outside. I am very happy with my 10mbps service. Had it for 2 months now.

Yes it works great provided signal is half decent. An RSSI of -70 dBmA or lower and you're all set. My ping bf4 is ~=13ms for joburg servers, 34ms for capetown, 180 for EU.
