Neobroadband Wireless - Constantly need to reboot

Hello

I have the Neobroadband 4Mb wireless connection. When it connects, it works well but I find I need to reboot the outdoor cpe unit more or less once a day. The internet connection seems to drop for some reason.

I have the AOL 4T103 outdoor CPE and the indoor router is the Netgear MBRN3000.

Any suggestions on what to check or change?

Regards

Hi all,

Maybe run a permanent ping (ping -t) to somewhere and monitor it.(the connection drops :) and the pings!). Maybe Neotel have changed some settings on the network or something like that.

having the same problem as well, I have to reboot every 2 ~ 3 hours.

I wonder if there is a firmware upgrade that is available to fix those issues in both internal/ external routers

Exactly same issue here.
Have to power off my myfi modem and restart every few hours.
Very frustrating.
It was always ON until two weeks ago.
I wonder if they not automatically cutting idle connections.

So, my connection has been stable for 48 hours now ... hopefully that continues.

I had a TP-Link router with a WAN port and decided to remove the Netgear and install the TP-Link router instead. I also connected the ethernet connect from the outdoor CPE router to the WAN port instead on the LAN ports. The WAN port is connect via a dynamic IP connection.

Thanks Cedricf I'll try this with my Billion router. What area are you in. I was online for 8 hours yesterday before the issue returned and had to reboot every hour or so before hitting the sack.

Quick question is your CPE set to router or bridge mode?

Thanks Cedricf, whe you say the wan port is connected via a dynamic up connection are you saying that it should obtain an IP address automatically

Correct, so WAN gets IP from CPE, and the rest of my home gets IPs from LAN ports which is controlled by my inside modem. Im my case, my TP-Link.

I had the same problem until Wednesday. I was tired of the constant reboots and decided to call Neotel. They came out and played around... The found that a setting on the outdoor CPE was not right, causing it to drop connection every few hours. They didn't tell me which setting was incorrect but it now hasn't been rebooted in 4 days!

I think if you are having a problem then call Neotel and get them to arrange an installer!

Hope I helped a bit?

Camoh2006,

Which unit do you have, 4 port or single port outdoor unit. The s/w differs.

Solved for me...

Had My issue solved (well mostly)Via the call centre...
They sent me what looks like part of a setup Manual. The guy I spoke to I logged on to my Antenna and that is in bridge mode they said not to fiddle with that.. the rest I pasted below.. Hope it works for you... POST if this works for you..
Configuring ZyXEL Router

Applicable for Firmware Version: V1.00(AAJZ.3)b1_D0

Connect Ethernet cable from your computer to one of the Ethernet ports on the ZyXEL router. To configure the ZyXEL Router, open Internet Explorer and browse to 192.168.1.1. Logon using your logon or default logon details.
The router will request you to change your password. You can change password and write down the new password and store in a safe place. To do this later, click ‘Skip’.

A Quick Start setup window will open. Ignore this message by clicking on ‘Close’.

On the ZyXEL router, enable Ethernet WAN port. To do this click on Network Setting and then on Broadband in the menu.
Click on the Ethernet WAN tab, then select ‘Enable’ and then click on the Apply button.

Create a new WAN Interface profile. To do this click on the Broadband tab and then ‘Add New WAN Interface’.

Type in details as shown below.

Click Apply after filling in the details. You should see the newly created profile appearing in the Interface list.

Add DNS Server IP addresses on the ZyXEL router. To do this click on Network Setting and then on Broadband in the menu.

Scroll down to the DNS Values and select ‘Static’. Type in the DNS Servers as follows:(already on the forums here somewhere)
DNS Server 1: 41.160.0.37
DNS Server 2: 41.164.0.11

Then click on ‘Apply’.

Final step is to enable SIP ALG. To do this, click on Network Setting>NAT.

Select the ALG tab, then click on ‘Enable’ for SIP ALG and then click Apply.

Power cycle the ZyXEL router.

Connect the A-Tel LTE CPE (use the LAN port of A-Tel LTE POE adapter) to Ethernet Port 4 on the ZyXEL router. If your computer is connected to the ZyXEL router it will be issued an IP address.
