This happens to me too, the only way to solve it for me is to restart the router... Going to talk to Neotel about this, have you heard anything or been able to solve your problem? Please let me know

I have the same issue and i notice that you can not even ping via the router gui.
I find it mainly happens when i max the line out, streaming etc
i am using the huawei router, does any get this with the zyxel setup?

Happy for you. IT seems many users are complaining about poor throughputs myself included. I now get an average of 2 - 3 Mbps on a 10Mbps service. Their officie response is that this is within spec. I advise people not to consider this service.

Hi all,

Just a thought. Couple of things may be happening here.

If you are getting data from overseas, getting 3 Mbps on a 10 Mbps may be the international portion, or even the server.
If your server is local, it can still be a upstream (peering) problem, specially to smaller ISP's, who peer via others. Also local server maybe overloaded.
Now if the tower is overloaded with users, then do test at different times to see if it improves. If not, try re-pointing your unit to another tower. I would rather have less signal on a un-congested tower than full signal @ congested tower.

I did this after 1 year (new tower found!) , but could not complain about speed after 4 Mbps upgrade.

Just hope Neotel will install a few more towers in those areas with congestion and areas with no coverage at all!

the problem is if the tower is congested the service is already 25:1 so means you will get bad speeds
i find speeds are bad at my place untill 9 at night.
honeydew tower is terrible

This morning at 07:25 at got between 4Mbps and 5Mbps for a while which is the highest I have seen in a long time. But, it is still only half of what I should be getting.

now days i cant even get 1meg on my LTE and they say its because of the 25:1 contention
so if the tower is overloaded divide my connection by 25 and thats what speed you will get.

My con works great most of the day (at 5-6 PM only get ~6 Mb/s). Tuning the antenna correctly made a huge difference. LTE prioritises cells that have low noise and high effective bandwidth.

so they just put all speeds in the same pipe, dont the different speeds/packages have different contention ratios? if they say the tower is overloaded, it's much more than just 25 users to 1 tower surely..

the contention means that if the tower is overloaded you are guarenteed a speed of your connection/25

Neotel just left my house they said the honeydew said is so congested it is at 150% capacity.
he said they have 180 users on the tower and its max limit is 100

well yes it's supposed to mean something like that. they should be fined per day for every user over its own quota on every tower, and discount the other subs on the congested tower for the duration.

Sent support requests, get the usual 3 day wait reply, ironically their invoice arrived without fail this morning.

Yep. Same here also on a 10Mbps service. What I don't get is how it got to this literally overnight. I though there would be a gradual degradation of the service if it was congestion.

I only paid R600 of the R1799 end of January as I only get a third and less of the throughput.

Neotel told me I have to wait 4 to 8 Months for a new tower and offered that I go on a lower speed package which is pointless.
