Has anyone actually managed to get prot forwarding working with a neoflex router .. i thought i couldn't get it working because the ports were closed but apparently after calling neotel about 5 times the are open by default on the neoflex package.

any advice or support out there?

hey mate, i have also asked them and they have said all Neoflex packages have all ports open by default.
(knowing neotel, you never know if they are telling the truth)

If the Neotel Rep is still around maybe he could answer this for both of us.

The Neotel Rep has left the building due to a lack of interest :D

just for show

starting to think the port forwarding option on the router is just for show, firstly dynamic dns does not seem to work - i created an account on www.dyndns.org setup a host (picked up the wan address) all looked good, but the router doesn't seem to be sending updates to dyndns when there is an ip change.
i also thought that maybe it was just vista that had some evil firewall rule that was blocking the port so i used an xp pc to test, setup port forwarding on the router again for the millionth time, still no joy.
Just cant get port forwarding to work

Regarding the dyndyns not working - apparently neotel is aware of this and has asked Axesstel to write a new firmware to fix this. Was supposed to come out 2 weeks ago, I suggest you call them and ask the status.

Regarding Port fowarding - it works fine on my neoflex router. I had to set it up in both of the pages (Port Fowarding & Packet/Port Fowarding). Then ensure youre laptop or pc is connected via the port u specify in the router settings page. U can force it to connect to that IP by specifying a MANUAL ip address in your tcp/ip settings of your wireless adapter.

I had my ports forwarded for war3 as well as bitcomet, but for some reason i can't host games anymore, seems like ports are closed, i can't have that so im switching to ADSL!!! YAY!!!

do you mean the physical ethernet port?, i didnt see anything on the configuration about specifying the physical port ?

i did set a manuel IP address, and set the ip in port forwarding to match that ip address. still didnt work

Yes i had my ports forwarded for about 2 months then one day i couldn't host anymore so i reconfigured it again but it didn't work....

hmm...i have mine working and all is okay with the dnydns as well...maybe faulty devices?

PS. I remember speaking to someone at Neohell a while back and they said they were going to release a firmware upgrade regarding certain issues...but knowing them might take a while ;)

saga continues

called neotel again, and now they say that the ports are not open by default, so the tech said he would request that they be open  so now i need to wait and see if the dude knows what he is talking about. Whats really annoying is that one person from neotel will tel you that the ports are open by default then the next guy tells you they are not

@josempita - Firmware version of neoflex router - MV400_ETH_102C_09_STND May-23-2008 15:04:08

As far as im aware, neoflex was always sold with the ports opened. Only prime and lite had their ports closed. Not sure what the deal is now...

ports

can anyone who has port forwarding send a screen shot of the screens that need to be setup. so far ive setup the port forwarding screen as well as packet/port forwarding screen to forward port 21(start port and end port) to my local ip. is there anything else i need to do ? besides get adsl ?

no thats it. Also make sure your windows firewall is set up to allow those ports. Just disable it first and see if it works.

ports

pc side of thins seem ok since i can remote into it locally as well as access the ftp server on local network, i tried checking if the ports were open using the site www.checkopenports.com the result is offline

resolved

finally ports are working - problem after many calls to neotel was that the ports ARE closed by default - so no matter what a call centre technician tells you neoflex ports are NOT open by default

i have also phoned 3 times and the neotel tec told me they have opened the ports - i used pfportcheker from portforward.com to check the ports but they stayed closed. i am not very clued up on tec stuff so when ppl talk about dns servers i am left behind, but i started messing about with the portforward tab in the setup and found that only the ip that i put in the first space gets the port open the rest of the pc's stay closed. Can anybody plz help?

Ok first lets solve this step by step.

This is what I need from you:

1) The IP address of the LAPTOP/DESKTOP that is connecting to your neotel modem as of now (ie. 192.168.0.2 ? )

2) A screen shot of BOTH the setup pages on your modem for Packet/Port Fowarding & Port Fowarding

3) Ensure your windows firewall is disabled

4) Download Azureus/Vuze and do a NAT/Firewall Test on your opened port

5) The port that you WANT fowarded

6) The IP address that you WANT that port fowarded to (ie. 192.168.0.2)
