Neotel Coverage Areas

Cape Town southern suburbs should have connectivity by late November / early December... The sooner the better. I can't live with this iBurst connection for much longer!!

BEWARE " NEOTEL ARE USELESS"

Off the topic but a big warning.
Neotel have picked up on the point that it is acceptable for a service provider in RSA to offer lack of courtesy, expertise and skill.
Their call centre is manned by the most useless numb sculls i have ever dealt with. I mean, they are useless !!!
I have had Neotel for 3 weeks now and already my phone has been replaced due to a faulty unit. Costing me THOUSANDS OF RANDS in down time. (No phone for 48 hrs.)
Now my email has crashed. My customers are getting their emails to us bouncing back "Delivery Status Failure" which means THOUSANDS OF RANDS of business down the drain.
The call centre is so bad now that they tell you " Someone will call you back "
NO ONE CALLS YOU BACK !!
The winner is....we had to sign a 2 year contrack. Now to cancel it we will have to go to court to sort this mess out.
I hope they sink. They dont deserve our country and will only poison our existing terrible service provider market.

It is Hellkom and all of these overchargers that are useless.
It's a pity you had such poor service from them.
However you are one of only a few who have had such terrible service.
I take nothing away from your argument, its just that this country is being raped in terms of internet at the moment and Neotel's offering is like a bright light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
I am going to order their service as soon as its available and then draw a realistic conclusion.
Ever tried Virgin?
Utter rubbish and connecting is a miracle in itself!

And whats NEW???

I'm over waiting for neotel, why wait for something that has no definite timeline, and especially when they just don't care, if you ask them whether or not they plan to cover, the answer is always yes, but ask them about WHEN then there is never answer, its always "we have no info". Well thats it, its not like there isn't other choices.

Cybersmart ADSL with nightrider, R259 for 3GB with line rental and if you use that in nightrider time its like having 15GB

and

Openweb uncapped 512Kbps ADSL is now R1199 per month, ok, line rental is not included but its close enough.

Its simple really, by the time I get coverage from neotel telkom would have already come up with something better, guess neotel will never make me their customer, and I honestly don't want to be one when their service levels are !@#%!@$#^&@$&@$.

Openweb uncapped 512Kbps ADSL is now R1199 per month, ok, line rental is not included but its close enough.

That isn't uncapped, that is express unlimited. It has a threshold cap of 15GB a month and if you exceed that they throttle you down to 256kb.

Also you only have a rolling 10 day window of 10GB, wherein if you exceed 10Gb in 10 days they throttle you for the next 10 days. If you are still exceeding 10GB at the end of that next 10 days the throttling continues.

That doesn't sound like "uncapped" to me.

Sorry, but that offer isn't really comparable to the Neotel uncapped package. Especially once you add in the Telkom 512kb line rental at R326 making the total monthly cost more like R1525. That is more than a 50% increase on the Neotel offering, for something with a threshold cap...no thank you.

Well maybe its not as "uncapped" as you wish it to be, at least there is a much better coverage of service for the product, also the thresholds do not apply during off peak and weekends, if you want uncapped you are trying to download stuff then these off peak times are perfect. Yes its 50% more expensive but you do not need to sign contracts, no need to pay deposits and most of us already have ADSL lines to just use and again, its available.

As for neotel, I have called them again, the story just never changes with them, they never have info and they are always just trying to get contact info to "call" you.

fact is, I was so very eager to jump over to neotel, then they delayed their launch and then they were not serving consumers now I'm just going to look for whatever is cheaper. Neotel is loosing their biggest advantage fast, pple's hate of Telkom, once we're as frustrated with neo and will telkom then telkom will win, they have infrastructure in place and they have been in business for so much longer.

Yay! They are digging trenches and laying Orange pipes through Meyersdal, Brackenhurst and Brackendowns in Alberton. Any day now! :D

Kawak,

At least sounds like Neotel is very consistant....No info....No rollout schedule....

Oh, and did I forget....No coverage

Garyvdh, First: At least that is a good sign. Did you actually see the "Working for Neotel" sign at these diggings...If not, it's not Neotel. Could be MTN, Vodacom, Telkom or DFA.
Second: The whole P&C(Pipe & Chamber) needs to be completed from start to end (from where the fibre orginates till where the High site is to be constructed) first, then the fibre gets blown in, then terminated, then some equipment put on the end of it to generate Broadband backhaul, never mind the CDMA stuff itself.

I recon when Neotel start digging in your area, it probably means your have a 50% change of getting coverage in 6 months. Period.

No, I didn't see the Neotel signs. Didn't see any signs. I just saw the orange red cable on the big rolls.

So most likely not Neotel then. I think those huge orange/red rolls are pretty standard in the industry now.

I guest you are T(or is it N) - 12/18 months.

Here is a Coverage map for neotel, 2 bad my area not covered yet would love unlimited account
