Neotel Fair Usage Policy...Come on!!

@Dreamking: This.

In all honesty I don't really care, I couldn't have been "capped" so far either, unless I'm misunderstanding this capping and how it works.

My connection is down by over 400kbps and everyone else is having the same problem, slow speed and disconnections and you don't have a reason for us which ticks me off the most.

I want my connection back to what it was before last week. I'm on the verge of going back to Telkom even though I've stuck with Neotel for over a year and been loyal.

Yes sure, we have to attend to the congestion probs on PN's and i've found a new way to tackle these, but it is causing alot of unhappy consumers out there, namely alot of you.

1. Why did you tell X about the FUP if you denying it now? Are you/were you BS'ing him?

2. How are you tackling the congestion problems? I'd like to know because my speeds are sitting at 20/30KB/s these days... sometimes dropping to just around 15KB/s!

PS: Hugo, do not take it personally (I don't mean to attack YOU personally)

I've got the same issues. I even moved closer to my base tower this year and was getting great speeds (Full bars on the device and over 100KB/s most of the time during the start of the month) until a few weeks ago. At the moment it is sometimes even worse than it was last year with my "worse" signal. I am lucky if I get 30KB/s nowadays.

Sorry peeps, been rough over the past few days and weekends, Jeanres knows bout it but not your troubles anyway. Except Neotel challenges, yeah we've got to attend to these.

Fair Usage Policy:
As much as you're convinced there is throttling, THIS IS NOT SO.
Alot can be redirected to users

Take the example below:
8 of you are sharing aconnection, 7 are playing lan one is on torrents with massive download, ask yourself this:
Are the other 7 just going to let him use all the allocation while they suffer or are they going to expel him so they can all be jsutified with inceased speed.

So the same goes for congestion, the more are on with exponential load, the lower the connection is going to be.

Same for latency - if you have a dormant connection to test the latency and ping rates, you're going to get a good stats
If you're busy with mails in the backend and run the test gain, be reassured your latency will suffer, and though you think you're reading might be reflecting otherwise, this will be very inaccurate.
We therefor do capping to prevent sites overload. A speed of a site download is only capable of exactly that, what the sites server can handle based on volume of users, this is for all international web sites/hosted sites.

We can run this as a question or info session for reply posts:

What do you all think and and your input if we offered a Shaped Package with rights hed and therefore creating a tiered pricing structure to attract a premium price plan?

Just ideas i would like some insight from you from.....

Hugo

Hmmmmm you sell a 1mb (Supposed to be even better according to the device specifications) link. Do not blame the users when you do not have the backend required in order to maintain a decent contention ratio.
You advertise this service as a UNSHAPED service ie no priority of someone torrenting over those that play games..

If you are now throttling on Flex , then any flex subscriber has a VERY VERY STRONG argument to go to ASA with.

In one breath you say there is no throttling , but in another breath you say you are capping sites ? So which is it ????

No throttling, PERIOD.

*Pssssssssst, Hugo*

Toss me a few answers here please...

kthxbye.

Neotel do not throttle.

What they do is dump you onto another tower, usually further away.

What I have been doing is dialing *#2368*#07#

Go to PN (Tower #)
RSSI btw is signal strength.

Good Speed PN 196 (~Corporate Park Area) 200Kb+
Crap Speed PN 188 (~Centurion Way) 5-6Kb
If I do manage to get a better signal on 188 by moving antenna
I get dumped to PN 20 (No Clue yet)

Am using 14dbi Yagi antenna currently.

Was told I could use 24dbi Wireless antenna too. Need to get a connector to make it fit. So not tested as yet.

One minute, I'm getting 100KB/s (sometimes more) and the next, for a few days, it's 20-30KB/s (like now!)

Wow, i can only dream of speeds like that, even with an external antenna i never exceed 55KB/s and then most of the time it hovers around 20/30, right now i am getting under 10!

CRAP!
