Please note that we’ll be doing some maintenance work on the South African leg of one of our international links, between midnight and 2:00am tomorrow morning (Wednesday the 9th). This will give us increased protection against unforeseen events like cable breaks etc. and in light of the outages we’ve had over the last few weeks it’s clearly a priority that we get this in place. Although it’s a 2 hour maintenance window we only expect the downtime on this link to be in the region of 30 minutes. Our 2nd international link via Seacom as well as our SAT3 capacity will not be affected by this work. P2P traffic will be throttled back during this time but all other traffic should be unaffected.

Thanks for your patience.

So is this going to change the pathetic local pings or is it something that will never be fixed?

It would be nice if you just came out and said the local pings will be high end of story.

I have just canceled my Vox account in favor of a new ISP.. but MWEB seems to become more and more unsavory as I go along
Seriously not keen for issues - especially when paying that amount of money.

Please note the use of the word "throttle" in stead of shaping.

Yes, becasue shaping would not ease the issue at that time of day. Throttling to ease load at times of repair makes sense.

I wonder if they're bringing any new capacity online soon.. my P2P speeds are shocking to say the least..

Thank you for letting us know. All those that start ranting and raving about their speeds in the wee hours of the morning hope they see this first.

There you have it ladies and gentlemen from the horses mouth. Not shaping hahah, and i suspect this is a perma-throttle like we have been having since the beginning of the month.
