It seems that Neotel is going to be a good competitor for Telkom when it comes to incompetence.

They were laying fibre in front of my home this morning and damaged the water supply pipe, thereby depriving us of water.

Instead of reporting the fault and informing us that they are responsible, they keep quiet about it hoping no one would notice.

I had to log a fault with Metro Water, however when the plumber came to access the situation the Neotel foreman was missing, so the plumber had to leave.

After repeated calls to their Head Office, they finally got back to me and are still promising to get it fixed straight away.

They damaged it at around 11:30am, it is now after 5pm and still no sign of the plumber.

By no means am I a neotel supporter yet either, but I think we call this a 'mistake'. I don't think anybody would intentionally break your water pipe; and to add to that, I dont think it was any of Neotel's management who happened to be laying the fibre either, so somehow when i see "they keep quiet about it hoping no one would notice", I think of another entity *cough* being the cause of the problem, rather than neotel itself.

It was the Neotel management who told me that they are hving a problem with workers who bust water pipes, then keep quite about it.

As an employer you should ensure that if your workers commit an error, they report it immediately and rectify the problem.

It does not matter whether it was neotel staff or subcontractors they are still responsible for the mess up.:(

Just shows you what we can expect as they lay more and more cables throughout the country as they try to beat telkom's at messing things up.

Stop b1tching man! You need bandwidth at good prices not water! Drink beer!

Poor Guy.
Telkom has messed up your mind so bad, that you would actually prefer cheap bandwidth over a basic necessity like water.

Perfect example of the great harm Telkom has done to our country.

Anyway, the pipe was fixed temporarily at 9:30 pm, with the Metro expected to finish the job today.

I have to admit that the person I was dealing with at Seimens was extremly apologetic and gave me his personal cell number to phone him at any time if I had further complaints.

That I doubt we will ever get from Telkom.

I think you mean NSN. They use sub-contractors in any case.

what sub-contractor does the sub-contractor use?
and what sub-contractor will that sub-contractor use?

and is he a sub-contractor or a sub-sub-contractor

NSN will be the supplier in most if not all cases. Suppliers do make use of sub-contractors.

It does not matter how many subcontractors are involved, the buck stops at neotel's door.

It's up to neotel to make sure they use reputable subcontractors since besides the mess up neotel's "good" reputation (which they won't have at this rate) flies out the window.

Maybe the new EOW (Ethernet over Water) network swill start in your front garden. Now you only need to find a WDSL (Water DSL) modem and youre away!
