Neotel NeoFlex voice

I get really annoyed when certain people on this forum expect everything for free. Free line rental, free air rental, free whatever rental. Can't you think past the trees in your office park or garden and realise there is a massive network operating to give you your dial tone or wireless connection. This uses power, cooling and man hours to operate. There are admin people to pay, support desk and technicians. Equipment has a limited life and must be paid off. Upgrades and expansion cost money and the company needs to make a profit. Even if you don't use your connection, you are consuming resources.

Your "air rental" argument is so narrow minded and just makes you look stupid.

+1

You have a point and I think most (like me) agree with you. But SA has come to a place where we're paranoid about anything. We've gotten used to being raped by the telcos and now we are volunteering our behind. We do not know what prices are fair and which are not. We have been disappointed so many times, and this has cause us to be suspicious of everybody, especially those that have promised us cheaper bandwidth and services. I for one have made peace with the fact that life must go on, the bus is not coming, and whoever is coming to my town preaching good news is actually there to collect the remnants.

I understand that maybe it's not such a bad idea to let the people vent their fury. Somehow I still think somebody will listen and good service will come to my town...

Well I dunno bout this one. Maybe they are a couple of pennies less expensive than Telkom on call rates, and I have to say that my Telkom telephone line (ex ADSL) costs less than R 173.10 / month. For someone who does not make a lot of voice calls, this is more expensive than Telkom, or am I misreading something?

in the same context, the za consumer (and specifically this forum) seems to take things to the extreme. I often find comments narrow minded, "shooting from the hip", with many armchair experts commenting on things they know nothing about. there's a dire need for skills in the industry in za, I take it most of the guys here are qualified to make the sweeping statements they do, and have many years of experience.

Well people this service is intended for SOHO / SMME users.

It is targeted @ businesses that do not want to use Telkom and / or do / do not have a PABX.

For those that don't have a PABX, keep in mind that it is just a SINGLE line giving you access to the network.
The installation fee is not required if you are not using a PABX. In addition, Samsung offers a PABX solution bundled with the Neotel service - should you wish not to use that bundled option then your costs are R173,xx per month plus any usage.

So in all fairness this is a step in the right direction. Go Neotel!

look, Neotel has spent alot of money setting up a network...the R99p/m is probably for that... I guess they have to recuperate it somehow instead of only from the phone calls. They have highly paid staff, funky offices, and already corrupt management to feed.. :P

I do not think it is SIP/IAX interface. I think it is pure CDMA...like the mobile phones in the US, except, this is a desktop phone...

Only problem is that I cannot use my Ducati bike phone, or my Siemens Gigaset cordless.

Yes I wager most people here have more than a few years of experience at being ripped off royally..

And this is real competitive... since it's a corporate package, and since it's suppose to help local business you would think that the call rates would be a tad bit reduced?
