This first bundle introduced by Neotel includes 1000 Neotel to Neotel voice minutes, ( IN THE BEGINING WE WILL BE STUCK WITH 999 MINUTES BECAUSE OF LACK OF NEOTEL USERS) 50 Neotel to Neotel SMS's, (SAME APPLIES HERE) an email account (WOW!! AN EMAIL ACCOUNT, ---- WE CAN GET IT FREE ON YAHOO, GMAIL ETC. SO, DONT BOTHER OFFERING SOMETHING THAT WE CAN GET FREE ALREADY) and free internet access up to 10GB of data for a monthly charge of R599. (R599 PER MONTH, STILL HIGHWAY ROBBERY) This price is inclusive of all monthly fees such as device charges and service rentals, as well as VAT.

ANOTHER BEAST IN THE MAKING --- NEOBEAST

Offer 10gigs for R200 on ADSL and keep your free minutes and your free sms's.

Well its a start at least...
I'm optimistic... for now...

And just how do you expect them to sell 10gig at R200 without making some profit? If you can do better, then please do so. SA needs your R20 per gig services

I'm wondering now, has anyone mentioned anything about local / international split in this packages or what?

Is it 10GB for both or 10GB for Int or what, how does it work.

LMAO you are new here I am sure.

If I can remember correctly a few years back, I was paying R199 for 10gigs INTERNATIONAL from WebAfrica, were they not making money?

Wake up and smell the coffee.

WebAfrica has just opened an office in Gauteng, must have been from their losses when they were charging R199 for 10gigs.

Do a search on broadband in other countries and compare prices.

Some of us DO NOT need a telephone (landline), we just want ADSL, why must we be forced to have something we are not going to use?

R200 for 10gigs is very possible.

Well if you look at it, all they did was do away with line rental. Price per gig is the same as adsl.

dont forget its 10gig UNSHAPED so we are getting it at a cheap price since 1gig unshaped is about R120

Just wondering - does anyone know when Neotel is launching in Cape town.

Are they really gonna be any different than telkom?
Maybe at the beginning - but as soon as they become greedy and see they can take advantage of us, or at least the fact that SA is so behind compared to other contries, and when they see that we will pretty much take anything they throw at us! I think they just gonna end up being the same like our favourite Telecoms (Hellkom)

When demand was lower, yes this might have been possible

Lets compare broadband in South Africa shall we? It may be cheaper in other countries where they have more bandwidth

Sure we all have different needs but take into consideration this is Neotels first consumer offering, of which they will be deploying using CDMA2000. Getting access to the local loop (last mile) takes time, unbundling doesnt happen over night. Rome wasn't built in a day, and so Telkom wont let go of the wired infrastructure in a day either.

So rather compare apples with apples, NeoConnect with other similar technologies available in South Africa. You will soon realise this offering is damn good.

so far they seem ok , but the contract is not a good thing , what if im on contract n telkom makes 8mb lines

I saw people laying red cables, next to the high way. I couldn't get any pictures, but do you guys think that its neotel's cables? Has any one else seen other companies lay red cables? Were they doing it for neotel? I highly doubt its electricity so yeah. Please if any one can tell me than that would be good. :D

I may be showing my lack of knowledge here but doesn't ADSL by definition include a telephone line whether you want it or not. Is there a country in the world that provides ADSL without a telephone line?

For proper ADSL you need a physical line unless you go with WiMax which then eliminates the need for a line

I can say this much for Neotel - I'm moving in the next month - and I'm keeping my Telscum ADSL line!
