Neotel & Rapidshare

Great news!!!!! Right now (11:50PM Sunday), rapidshare is working 100%. No problems or intermittent connection problems. Well. That's good enough for me. Hows it working for you guys? I hope this stays working

Just an update. My stuff is still working great. I'm now getting the fastest dl speed my PC has ever seen. 180KB/s with a ping of 80ms. Rapidshare has magically started working too. Getting top speed.

Whatever you Neotel guys did last night worked. Thanks :D

Ok, i dont have Neotel but i use Rapidshare quite a bit and ive noticed periods where rapidshare just does not work and its obviously a problem on their server side. Just have to wait till its up and running again... and as far as i can see from some of the later posts here it was only about half day till it got working again...

I have also experienced the same thing with particular RS links.

However, this doesn't impact other files I am downloading from RS. I just pause/delete the problematic files and carry on with the others (after redialling the Neotel connection).

This sucks if it is Part XX of a rar or hjsplit file though. Haven't found a way around that yet

I had a similar problem where I couldn't download from Filefront. Internet stopped working, I couldn't understand why. I did a DNSflush which seemed to sort the problem out. Give it a try and see if it works. If you don't know how to do a dns flush just google it ;)

Thanks, Venom Rush. I will give that a go and see if it works :D

I've also noticed some files just die some percentage into the download from Rapidshare.
I have a (not great) solution:
I assume if you're using Rapidshare for downloading, you're a premium member, so you can resume downloads.
-When your download gets to that "stuck" point, pause it, disconnect your internet, connect using another line (ie your cellphone as a modem).
-Resume your download for a little bit, couple of hundred Kilobytes maybe.
-Pause it again, disconnect your phone, then reconnect your neotel internet, resume again, then it carries on magically!
Liek I said, it's not a great solution, but it works to just *push* it over that little bump.

Ok guys, here is my fix for rapidshare. It works even when your slowed to like 12KB/s.
First of all, your going to need to have a legit premium account. Then go to your rapidaccount on the rapidshare website and change your DL servers to Cognet 2, Cognet 1, Cognet 1. That way, even when using a DL manager, or when you just have a dodgy connection, the buffer stays at about 12% at the tower, not on your PC. Worked for me, seems to do the trick. Tell me how it goes for you guys :D

Wow! thanks for all the suggestions. I am definitely going to give this a go. Hopefully it will work for some of those files that just stopped in the middle ;)

This will sound weird. But I had a few files from Rapidshare that would get stuck at a certain percentage when downloading through Neotel.

But what I found is that if I downloaded the file from another computer that was connected via my Wireless network to the PC with ICS (dialled into Neotel) then I can download the file without any problems. I have tried this with several files that would just get stuck on the primary machine.

It seems like the problem only occurs when the PC/laptop is directly connected to the Neotel device via USB - no matter which machine it was attempted on.

Anyone care to try this out? It's made it a lot easier for me to download those "problematic" files.
