ok, after reading all these threads I am still not sure what to go for.

I have excellent coverage in my area, and use my line for downloads....

I have Telkom at 4MB/s currently, but bandwidth is just to expensive and download at 420kb/s.

Should I go for the Neotel Prime Uncapped R999.00 package or not ?

Really unsure about speeds achievable and bandwidth usage. Please help me make up my mind.

agreed - but also depends how u use ure internet. but id wait a while - at least until april

no, not yet. Wait.

or at least... don't cancel your current option.

Speeds are 200KB/s max in a good area
Yeah, for a week or 2!

If you send e-mails only, and they don't have large attachments, then go for it.

or at least... don't cancel your current option.

If you can afford to keep your current option and get Neotel, why not.

kewl

Will just wait and see what happens with Seacom and what changes that brings.

Thanks everyone for the assist :D

The problem here is that Neotel is great, but it's not without it's flaws... I've been with them close on 3 weeks... first 2 weeks were wonderful, since Friday, I've had nothing but problems but having said that, Neotel rep says there is problems and they are working on it.

So now we wait... patiently!

wait until seacom arrives, and if there are no changes after seacom arrives then i highly doubt even the all mighty "president" would be able to change it, and therefore u can stick to what u got.

I've experienced just the opposite, sucked 1st 2 weeks - after threating to cancel and requesting they send a courier to collect their equipment, they some how sorted out the problem and got it to fly at 1.5mbps average (, this weekend's activities has however broken it down to atrocious speeds -- average of 80kbps... Neotel whatever you did did please undo it as it was defintely for me a step in the wrong direction (Parkhurst) -- must elaborate a little further, sometimes I still get the 1.5 mbps connections, but quite often the connection fails or gets down to an equivalence with dial-up

Really hope these guys sort out their problems, with the lack of consistency I must xtill advise everyone to stay away until the reports are more positive.

Neotel rep. -- how about being a little open and honest in these forums about the problems you are facing, we can deal with truth, backed up of course with a commitment to resolve these in a defined timeline. Being quiet and elusive will only further alienate existing cliental, and ill prepare your new cliental for the problems you are having in stabilising your service (start to end).

Well I have been with them for about 3 weeks now, and I logged numerous calls and everytime they tell me that they have put me on a list for an antenna....and nothing else happens!!!

So I took the liberty to drive to a spot where I got 4 bars of signal and guess what the internet speeds were.....the same, no more than 100kbps average, this really sucks!!!

I would wait at least 3 more months to see if they could sort these crappy speeds out...I would not advise anyone to dump what they have got in trade for Neotel...

Hope they can resolve....
