neotel & torrents

Been on Neoflex 10gb for almost a week now - I have been very happy with the service 99% of the time, but I have noticed brief periods of very bad latency and poor throughput. However, Neotel are also a new network so hopefully as they get to know their network, this will improve.

Torrents have been fine for me, as has p2p. Just wish the service were uncapped :-/

As far as onlines games go, this won't cut it for sub-second response type games - should be ok for things like Eve though.

But definitely no regrets so far :-D

Okay, sorry to double post. I got my torrents to work great by setting up port forwarding on both protocols for the Bittorrent ports. My downloads run much better now, definitely no shaping going on. I am very happy with my service at this stage :)

May I ask which Torrent Client you are using and how you set up the port forwarding?
Also, what speeds are you averaging?

i use utorrent and only download well seeded torrents , get about 60-120kb/s

I use Azureus. Port forwarding can be set up by going to your routers configuration page (usually http://192.168.0.1 for Neoflex), clicking on "Port Forwarding" under Advanced on the menu and then choosing for example TCP, 6881 as start range, 6889 as end range, your IP as Server IP Address (start / run / cmd / ipconfig - address appears next to IP Address). Do the same for UDP. Click on System Settings under maintenance and click the Restart button to restart your router. Should be all done.

For me it made a difference, don't know if it will for you since you're already getting good speeds. My torrents all had blue faces before and have green faces now. Used to average about 20KB/s now up to 60-120KB/s

i use symtorrent. client fo mobilephones with symbian operating systems. hahahahah. and i like the bottomless mug & bean coffee. pmpl.
