Does anyone know if Neotel will offer ADSL? From what I've read they will use some sort of CDMA technology

Neotel will not launch any home user based access for quite a while,

The will go after the bank and big business first.

Neotel will offer services to consumers and small business as from April 2007, at this present moment they are already offering services to corporate companies (over 200 employees) :) cant wait till April ..... :D

If you read the main page artical, Neotel are only going to start offering services to residential customers towards the middle of the year now, which i think might only happen towards the 3rd quarter of the year.

Whats more, is that they've stated that they are not going to engage in a price war with Telkom, so what is it, exactly that they are going to be offering?

If all they are going to be offering is value-added services, then I may aswell stick with Telkom.

No price war? :(

There wasn't a price war when Cell C or evn VMobile came in, maybe a little.

Not happy to say, but then I will stay with Telkom.

I was a bit disappointed when I read the article, what else can Neotel offer at the same price? I also rather stick with Telscum not worth the effort to change for the same price. Don't hold yer breath on this one...another SA telecoms f%&# up :(

Hopefully higher or uncapped bandwidth and higher speeds, aborg.
I really would hope so.

Talking to the country Manager of Juniper who are supply Neotel routers, he says that residential services wont be available until 2008 and Neotel is investing heavily into Wimax. So that could be the likely technology for domestic hookups. Certainly would get around the Telkom ownership of the last mile copper

I'll put a challange to Neotel......

I'll sign up with you guys "for the same price" if you can differentiate between local and international traffic on ONE account while both are being used!!!!!! None of this "use your international up and then only start using local cap nonsense.

You want to add better valued products (still think it STINKS...we want price reductions) then do that for DSL users.

I don't mind paying a package deal of say R300 (R180 3Gig SAIX Int, R120 30Gig IS Local) if the routing actually works like it should!!! and my life is not complicated by downgrading my router to be a modem and loading all types of software on my pc's to make then routers.

If they not at least more than 25-50% cheaper it will not be worthwhile changing for voice calls considering u have to loose ur number, and pay more per call since likelyhood of it being terminated on a Telkom line is high initially heck for a couple yrs. As for data, if they can offer it unbundled, ie without voice being shoved down your throat they will gain many users.. but they'd also have to provide something really worthwhile .. i mean why change for better 'service' when its all basically the same? who cares if you give me webspace and email..

I don't think you would need to change your number. From what I understand, there will be number portability in this regard. But dont take my word for it though, I may be horribly wrong.
