Hi there...

I had a strange query from a client...

He currently use Nero 8 to burn his DVD's and stuff, but lately it doesn't want to burn his stuf... He then changed back to Nero 7, but also the same problem... Then we un-installed Nero, Removed registry entries and all, and reloaded, and still the same problem...

We also used other Burning ROMs like Roxio, and they are working just fine, but Nero - Nothing...

Anybody experienced the same Problems...?

Expand on that a bit. Does it report errors? Does it just do nothing? Does it popup a "Nah, I don't want to" message?

Has he reported this to the Nero support desk ? ... or is it one of those special (read "cracked") versions of Nero?

Nothing "special" about this Nero... And Nah, it doesn't popup "I don't want to". It cannot start to burn the discs, and therefor I suppose you will get a message like "operation unsuccessful"...?

But on the other hand, will contact the Nero support desk... Maybe there I will get reasonable support...

Thanx anyways...

The new version of Nero has back up features that let you rest easy knowing your data is safe in case of a complete system crash or a damaged disc. Restore data from discs damaged due to burning errors.

I'm thinking its got something to do with the permissions...Nero needs some of them to work properly. Try installing & burning under admin.

I seem to recall there being a tool called Neo BurnRights (Check inside Windows Control Panel) That may help (if it is a permissions issue)

I chucked Nero a long time ago... tell him to pick a new burner... my advice is CDBurnerXP and IMGBurn...

that will reduce the bloat and problems in his PC big time...

I just uninstalled Nero 7 on my office PC again today (I had only re-installed it to play around with lightscribe) because of that stupid NM indexing service (Nero Scout).

You can disable Nero scout when you install Nero. My Nero works fine.

hehe... I know... but most ppl don't know to do that when they first install the software... or forget to do it (like I always do).

... and the program just generally suffers from bloat... for what should be a relatively simple procedure.

To purchase their full package is $60 ... which is a massive rip-off in my opinion. I don't think it is worth more than $20.

Well I'm guessing you're also paying for all the other apps, albeit useless to most of us. Perhaps what they should do is release 2 different versions of Nero - one just for burning and the other for all the other crap they usually give with.

I think they do have that already... so I am picking on them unfairly... but they are still money grabbers IMHO! :p

@Garyvdh

I am interested in what you use? Where can I get it. You're right, Nero is terribly bloated these days.

Give the fat old Nero a fiddle and have him make up a tune while Rome burns... :p

oops, sorry, wrong channel :o :D

I absolutely loath and detest bloatware.
