Nersa grants Eskom new price increase application

WHY THE F*** should they get an increase if they are already posting a massive profit? It's supposed to be a service!

So it's just coincidence that this comes out a few days after it was reported that Medupi and Kusile are going to cost R100bn more than previously thought?

So glad I decided to do a full Solar PV installation on my roof 7 days ago. Electricity billed capped for the next 20+ years and I'll never look back!

Feeding back into the grid.. and its winter! Can't wait for summer to bring my electricity bill down to ZERO.

Fun fact:

Eskom will ask NERSA for R19 Billion more for 2014/15 and R22 Billion more for 2015/16 MYPD3 applications.

So that's about a 25% increase coming in the next two years.

how big solar setup you need to run a pool pump
how many hours a day
would a grid tie system not be better?
If you choose you solar panels wisely, you can get an inverter for a 3 phase pool pump for about R2k. (3 phase is necessary for MPPT, but sigle phase cost about the same, but much less efficient since it will only be able to run at one speed).

to take advantage of the solar pool heater my pool needs to run minimum 6hrs a day.

prefer to be independent of eskum
how about finding a separate pump for heating, that pumps slower but with adequate lifting capacity and use less power
