Today I was out for most of the day, and barely used the internet, I did not watch any videos or stream or even download anything, except a little bit of browsing. So I left my PC on for the day so it was in standby for about 7 hours, I come back and Net meter (A bandwidth monitoring App) and it says I have used 600 MB! I don't know how on earth this is possible! Could something be wrong with the App, or is there a background process that somewhere that could be draining my bandwidth!

I've not once had a problem with netmeter.
Something happened in your background I think. I do hope on the other hand that netmeter went wrong and you not lost all the bandwidth.

Doe sit also monitor other connections (LAN)? Also, what does your service provider website says how much you consumed for that day?

I've been using NetMeter for years and it is absolutely rock-solid, certainly better than the various Dashboard counters -- and an absolute MUST for any MTN subscriber during that provider's current billing fiascos.

So I would tend to think you can rule out NetMeter as the culprit, and look elsewhere.....

I have had discrepancies with NetMeter before, but it is usually out with approximately 50Mb out of a 1GB. Not 600meg.

The only reason why I think you migt have a SMALL discrepancies with Netmeter is the potential data loss by power failure or shut down before the file could write the updated values and interval period is set to something longer perhaps?
