Netbook availability?

They are pretty handy though. When I tutor, it is pretty handy to be able to run a full version of spice for circuit simulation.
And with an app that turns the screen into a giant touch pad, it becomes a mini laptop in terms of usability.

We'll have to differ on a few points then. I despise touch screens in general, even on my touch screen phone (I've learnt to live with it). I have a Nextbook 8" tablet, and it's fine for tablet things like 9gag.

I want a netbook for research. I definitely want to run Linux on it (development is just easier on Linux), and I would really like it if it does away with any form of touch screen whatsoever. ;)

Run damn small Linux then. :D.

I dunno about development being easier on Linux though. Having used both for work, getting a windows version of the software I needed going took far less time.

No scouring stack overflow for guides in how to get cmake to recognise the existence of the qmake in anaconda.

Precompiled binaries for the win. :P

Nothing quicker than "apt-get install golang". In Windows you need to set environment variables manually afterwards, etc. With tmux, you can split your console and perform edit/compile iterations quickly and easily.

I have an old Gigabyte Q1000 netbook on which I'm currently running Xubuntu. Used to be #!, but Xubuntu works just fine for my purposes. Would like a bit of an upgrade though.
