They are pretty handy though. When I tutor, it is pretty handy to be able to run a full version of spice for circuit simulation.
And with an app that turns the screen into a giant touch pad, it becomes a mini laptop in terms of usability.
We'll have to differ on a few points then. I despise touch screens in general, even on my touch screen phone (I've learnt to live with it). I have a Nextbook 8" tablet, and it's fine for tablet things like 9gag.
I want a netbook for research. I definitely want to run Linux on it (development is just easier on Linux), and I would really like it if it does away with any form of touch screen whatsoever.
