I remembered years ago that I was caught on the school's network where someone was controlling my pc. Was really weird.

But now with internet and all, is this more a security threat than a prank?

Weren't those the programs that had to literally be installed on the hosts machine?

I remember stuff like that happening when i was in school but they were using stuff similar to ultra vnc ( also i think hyena )

Yes it was installed on the host as well, and it started up with the pc everytime. So the prankster could have loaded it up even without the user knowing it.

I can't to seem to find it now, would love to prank my girlfriend on our network at home. :D

ye that shytes hilarious. did it to my dads machine. When my sister went on i started moving the mouse and going to pr0n sites.

She immediately called me and asked wtf is going on. I told her to show me what she means, and she was boggled as to why it never happened. After i left she yells for me to quickly come and see but it stops when i get there. Pity he flogged it now, so its just my machine at home :(

LOL, that's funny! haha :D

What program did you use?

ftp.uunet.co.za/pub/incoming/UltraVNC

Install server on host machine ( install includes both server and viewer ) and install the viewer on the machine u want to have fun from :D

i use ultravnc to remote support all our clients.. really handy program..
Old program similar to Netbus was Sub7. It was more flexible, you could do a few more things than you could in netbus..
Remember coding basic Turbo Pascal apps and inbedding them with the backdoor trojan to allow for the sub7 connection.. Was good fun, especially to peeps over IRC.

One such program was called Darkwing Duck if I am not mistaken. You could open cd trays, shutdown the screen or pc etc...

You could even generate error messages...

yeah i remember that as well :) sub7 was pretty similar...
You could even drop down a matrix like screen with the text cursor at the top..
used to freak people out.. find them pulling their power plugs..
You could literally do anything to them...
