Netflix is adding video games within the next year

Netflix Inc., marking its first big move beyond TV shows and films, is planning an expansion into video games and has hired a former Electronic Arts Inc. and Facebook Inc. executive to lead the effort.

Mike Verdu will join Netflix as vice president of game development, reporting to Chief Operating Officer Greg Peters, the company said on Wednesday.

Verdu was previously Facebook’s vice president in charge of working with developers to bring games and other content to Oculus virtual-reality headsets.

Netflix should have better trailers, behind the scenes, actor interviews, reviews, etc in the App.
I have to go to Youtube to watch this.

Smart move, all the gamers love EA and Facebook and are chomping at the bit for more of their fantastic approach to games. /s

This will probably go the way of Amazon Game Studios, where the suites keep chasing numbers and the projects end up failing. The only way I could see this succeed if is they partnered with NVidia and used their Game Streaming tech from within the Netflix app.

MS is already way ahead of them on this, and they have established platforms on which to play the games.

The platforms that Netflix runs don't typically have the power to handle proper games, and I don't see MS and Sony allowing them to use theirs so this will probably be a PC only novelty...
