Netflix vs Showmax vs Black

I thought these were Netflix prices ?

Basic (streaming) $8
Standard (streaming) $11
Premium (streaming) $14
 
IIRC they raised prices on the US accounts but the SA ones remained the same.

Or vice versa

SA accounts remained the same.. Just had a look now... $11.99 for the 4 screen super duper package.
 
I'm chatting to support now - he says doesn't have anything to do with region, but rather rather they do pricing in batches. He says you're all lucky and I was in the first batch of upgrades. He also says the review should indicate the new pricing, as anyone signing up now is going to get he new pricing.

Locally, of the 4 people I've tried, 3 on the old pricing and 1 (me) is new

So you're a SA subscriber rather than a US one?

I did register before SA but then changed to local - but I thought it was all the same ? I get local content ?

But I asked him about that he said it wasn't region based. So I'm unsure
 
You would have had to register a new account. Content is determined by your geographical location.

I thought the content was based on my IP address ?
So they new I was in South Africa based on the IP, gave me local content and charged me local pricing?

I guess now if I register again, I need to get a new mail address?

I mean $2.00 is a fair chunk percentage wise.

Content is based on location. Pricing is based on where your account was registered.

If you want to pay SA prices you'll need to deactivate your US account and register a new one from SA.
 
Hmm, last time I checked it is batches like Dolby said. New people had to pay the updated price but when I wanted to upgrade my plan I was still on the original pricing. I know Netflix skips the yearly increase for members already paying and ony adjusts it later.

But it would make sense that USA pays more than us - or content is much less

I have an USA registered account and I pay $11.99 for ultra+4screens.
 
So the first guy didn't seem to know what he was on about ... but the second agreed with bwana.

He cancelled (stops my next billing date) and then I need to restart it. The system will then detect me as SA and hopefully save $24 a year! ;)
