Netflix vs ShowMax

No it will not buffer at all on 2MB. I had showmax, you can expect DVD quality streaming.

Ditto for Netflix - had no buffering for a month on a 2MB line even while watching Youtube on other devices.

Only issue was that it was unusable for 1 day when Seacom was down... seems dumb to not hosted locally.

The survey should have asked who has DSTV purely for Supersport. I would cancel DSTV right now if it wasn't for the sport.

Can't you buy 1 day passes to dstv premium when x sport is on said day?

Showmax wants to compete with Netflix but after 6 months they still don't have apps out for Apple TV, Roku etc. This is a serious blunder from their side. Don't they understand that accessibility is key?

Absolutely, there are three features I enjoy about Netflix, Crunchyroll and streaming in general.

1) Virtually any common device: Apple TV, Xbox, Roku, etc (Even Wii-U come to think of it)
2) Binge Watch "mode" - Autoplay and skipping credits etc
3) No adverts

Showmax has content that would interest me but I can't bring myself to deal with airplay or similar to get it onto a TV.

I am considering ditching dstv for showmax. I have a 2mb line currently. My question is will I watch for 10seconds, wait for the buffer to load for 10 seconds and watch again for 10seconds? I can upgrade to 4mb if this will allow buffer free watching but going 10mb is too expensive for me. Looking to save some dough every month.

After using the Netflix SA free month trial, I've watched everything I want to on there and see no reason to give them money. Was planning to move on to Showmax and see if it's better.

This. Given that they want to be better than Netflix, they are starting the race hopping on one leg. No subscription until the apps are available for common streaming media players.

They only wanted to "compete" when there wasn't any competition.

That interface is so amateurish. What does super high quality even mean? To me Super High is 4k, High is 1080, Medium is 1280 and Low is 480. But their super high can't be more than 720p.

True. Maybe they mean Super Quality as per the 80s standards?
