Netflix vs VPNs

Meaning they just got some new IPs.

I think all Netflix wants is to be able to look the studios in the eyes and say, with some honesty, Hey, we tried, nothing else we can do, why don't you make all content global

Already so many workarounds for Netfilx's geo-blocking. Seem like most VPN/DNS swithers were prepared for it way ahead of the time. There is an interesting little database called uNoGS for seeing what content is available in what region and what vpn will give you access to it.

Unotelly mainly uses a DNS-based unblocking system, not VPNs, although they do provide VPNs too. DNS-based unblocking is much better.

I use the mediahint plugin on google chrome.... was still able to get NF this morning.
will be a bit sad if NF blocks me... but will just cancel my subscription to NF and Mediahint, so many other options for viewing the content I like. NF is just 'easy' with a good user interface, but wont loose any sleep if I loose the subscription

Still comes down to : We pay them money and wont if they don't give us what we want. Eventually Netflix will be in the same situation with the studios... its a massive power struggle.

"DNS service I use" has to be one of the most tenacious companies I have ever encountered, downtime is not a word in their vocabulary.
Imagine they actually offered a service.

Indeed, but the question is how far will they go before the studios are happy? It's cheap and easy for Netflix to fight this war, and at some point it'll be too much trouble for 90% of the users to do the workarounds. Would you recommend Netflix to any normal user in SA if you knew that it was very likely they'd be phoning you ever few weeks saying it's not working, what must they do now?

The studios know full well that they won't stop everyone, but that's not their aim.

I was unable to access US Netflix this morning. Mailed Unotelly and the gave me a different region to select and working. Seems Unotelly were expecting this and have a workaround in place.
