Yeah if you had a working account then vouchers should be fine.

Thing is you can't have your cake and eat it.

If you want to use subscriber services then a card of some sort is part and parcel of making it a painless process.

Had a look at apple's billing method on their support page. As far as I can tell, a voucher and product specific redemptions are deducted first for payment, while the credit card last.

So eg, if I load R150 onto my Apple ID, and sub to NF, according to the above, the sub will first be deducted from store credit if any.

If I only had R100, then R100 first from the credit and R29 from my payment method i.e. Credit/debit card

But we will only find this out in 30days' time.

It's 2016. You need to trust online payment systems with your details. If something happens, your bank has you covered anyway.

There is no way any voucher will come close to the ease of use of just having your credit/debit card available for payment.

More amusing is that he is probably using the exact same card to pay for the voucher in a much less secure manner.

So one has to ask why the worry.

Wait....paying cash for a voucher at POS in supermarket is more dangerous than transmitting Information for via Internet and allowing a company access to my account....?

Yup.

It's open to cloning and interception.

Buying from a trusted online source is infinitely more secure.
