Netgear DG834G Help

Is there any special trick to get this router working? My brother tells me he has sat the past 2 days trying to connect the DG834G but to no avail. The "internet" light stays red and it wont connect.

He is using it as a router, as opposed to connecting via a PPPOE connection from his PC. As soon as he plugs his old Billion in, it connects instantly.

Raumas, when using the router, both the VCI/VPI and the account information has to be correct. My guess is that he didn't set the VCI/VPI to 8/35.

I have the router settings for the 834 gt>please be aware that they are particular to my requirements.

Decrease the MTU to 1492 or 1480.

VCI/VPI should be 8/35 as Pada said.
MTU: 1495

DSL Mode - Auto

All of this was done. Think its a faulty router, going to return it tomorrow.
