Hi Guys need your help.

Purchased a Netgear Wireless-N 300 Modem Router DGNB2100 to replace my D-Link DSL-504T. I am having problems setting up the Netgear to my Telkom ISP. The automatic Wizard installation fails when trying to obtain the DNS address.

All indicator lights are Green except the Internet light which is Red. Tried Netgear’s troubleshooting – did not work.

I was able to verify the upload and download speeds so something is working.

I then tried a manual install setting the encapsulation to PPPoA, I then used the Telkom Login and Password. Again the internet light is Red.

Has anyone set up this modem/router or offer advice?

Thanks

I'll play with it for a few days and then contact the supplier....

Tks for info.

I have the DGN2000, similar I would think. The internet icon only lights green if you have your login/password details entered in the router and a connection is established. I run mine in PPPoE Relay mode (Bridge Mode?) and the internet icon remains red although connected. AFAIK you should be using PPPoE encapsulation LLC Multiplexing VPI=8 VCI=35. The Wizard on my model is useless, locked up constantly, could not detect the correct multiplexing, insisted on using VC based ?

I have the DGN2000 too..and love it. I expect they are very similar. I know very little about setting these up, but remember checking a bridging mode setting, andI use PPPOE, with no isp details in the router.
Been working great. I think I searched this forum for DGN2000 and came up with some good info. Am sure it just needs some tweaking.

Actually DGNB2100 is the boxed combination of the Wireless-N 300 Modem Router (DGN2000) and the Wireless-N 300 USB 2.0 Adapter (WN111v2)

What he said. The encapsulation, VPI and VCI must be correct otherwise no go.

Great used your settings but still could not connect the the Internet. Phoned my ISP - Telkom..after 10 mins of testing she rest 'something'. Next thing my Internet light turned GREEN. It worked!! Again my thanks.
