Considering swopping my N600 (which I cant get to work on Telkom DSL) for an ASUS router. Previously had a Netgear N300 which worked ok. No experience on the ASUS. Any recommendations ?

I have an ASUS RT-N56U and I can tell you that it is well worth the price. Ive had it for close to a year now and I must say ASUS put in a lot of effort with new firmware and improved support. Epic device.

The RT-N56U is NOT an ADSL modem!

IMO get a cheap D-Link DSL-2500U ADSL modem and an Asus Router for 1Gbps LAN + 802.11n WiFi.

I am very much aware of that fact. The question, as I understood it was regarding ASUS routers, and I figured my experience with an Asus router would add some value to the topic.

+1 the rt-n56u is awesome also have one no probs what so ever also very easy to setup.
But yea as Pada pointed out it's not a dsl modem you will have to buy one separately.
Just get a d-link one port modem they go for like R200-R300 bucks.

Can agree with that, except that Asus have not been good with support for the new LTE modems.

Did you contact them and ask them abour the support Jola? They can be slow, but perhaps they will catch a wake up

Thinking of getting the NETGEAR DGND4000 DSL modem. My old DG834GT died so currently using a D-Link DSL-2500U ADSL modem paired with WNDR3700 router but find to many intermittent drops and lag spikes as well as sudden slow downs.

Who stocks the NETGEAR DGND4000 DSL modem? Cost?

Was there any specific settings to get your Netgear N600 Modem Router working?

What service provider?

We are with Afrihost - worked for one day and now does not connect. ADSL is active - just refuses to connect regardless of settings.

Trendnet 300 works fine on exactly the same line.
