Cost R2099 not cheap, but I believe you get what you pay for and in this case that seems true.
First impressions of this unit, the box is certainly quality and the packaging is all recyclable like paper Mache inserts in the box.
Modem looks stylish .
In the box .modem, PSU, Lan cable (nice flat one, surmise this is gig rated) RJ11 cable , CD with utilities and a booklet on quick install.
There are a few unique features of this unit that make it stand out way above any other unit of this type that I have researched. It has all the usual stuff that a top unit is expected to have and plenty more.
This modem/router has a 4 port GIG router, 2x300 Mbps WIFI (2.4 GHz&5GHz) that can run concurrently so theoretically 600 Mbps it also has 2 USBs.
The USBs can be used as a media server, SAMBA , FTP ,UPnP, 3G/4G dongle , to share printing and scanning functions on a network, and operate as high-speed NAS when an external storage device is connected. (no need for a HTPC).
It has dual processors one for the ADSL and one for the WIFI.

I was using the Netgear DGN2200 ,it is a great modem/router but it was choking on the load I put on it, Microserver.2 PCs wired, laptop wireless ,CCTV DVR wired lan,3 IP cameras (about to install a fourth one).
This unit handles all of the above with no lag, asus claim this router is 3 times faster than any other home router and this so far seems to be the case.
ADSL is slightly faster and stable (2 meg line) but my lan is definitely much faster.
The unit has a 3 year guarantee and a claimed 4000v surge protection.
So far this unit is great no problems with it.
Very easy to set up, I have not used all the functions yet.
BTW. many sites had this modem/ router on them but no one had stock, Azaam from mitabyte ordered it for me now there are some in the country.

You can run static IPs while running DHCP server. And the DMZ works well for my windows home server.
QOS is configurable from two places low medium and high per IP or EZQoS provides 4 types of popular Internet applications and enables you to easily configure your Quality of Service (QoS) settings. QoS ensures the performance of the Internet download speed and enables you to change its settings in different scenarios.
EX. Application you choose will remain the quality and will not lag even when you use P2P.
