I know I have a thread up, but blimey I can't seem to setup this router.

It's a Netgear DGN2000

I have the address set as 192.168.0.1 but it says the site can't be reached.

When I did get into the router, I put in my ISP details, but wouldn't do anything. Okay I'm back in. But I've put in ISP login and password, and I've left the IP and DNS to get them automatically. But I still can't get a connection. Any assistance please guys

Okay thanks guys, got it working. Unlike the Huawei router, it doesn't indicate if you have successfully entered your details. Basically checked a web page to see it's connected.

I have to say from an overall perspective, it seems a bit better with this router. However, the wifi is a bit crappy though. Constantly disconnecting. Does anybody know what's up with that? Connects, then loses the wifi connection, then says disconnected. That's a bit annoying.

The first netgear Telkom gave me had the same issue. I swapped it out for dlink which also had issues but was unstable.

I eventually just ended up using the ADSL part of the router with ppoe passthrough, and had a powerful dedicated WiFi dialing up the the dlink (now a modem only) Would suggest you do the same

Did you have a wifi extender or something else in between which connected to your router to share wirelessly?

No, I bought a WiFi router and added bigger antennas on it. I also have a WiFi extender lying around somewhere but it reduces throughput on the whole network so don't use it.

I did relocate my WiFi router so it's not next to phone line but about 5 metres away, much higher and with less obstructions

Okay thanks, I might try that and see. My walls are quite crappy when it comes to signal, so I might have to extend as well

I prefer power line to WiFi extenders, but the best is to buy a couple of access points and connect them to the main router using Ethernet.

Switch the dhcp off on the AP's , so the main router is handing out IP addresses

Cool will have a look over the weekend. Thanks again

Encapsulation is wrong - should be PPPOE.
